Pasasalamat evening 26th May 2007
Guests filled St. Andrew's United Reformed Church to watch LK's lively Pasasalamat, an evening of song, dance and merriment to give thanks to past, present and future supporters and to celebrate LK's achievements including the 2006 Presidential Banaag Award.
Ronnie del Barrio introduced the evening then LK performed dances from Cordillera, Los Bailes de los Años Pasados, Hariraya and Sa Kabukiran.
After the performance Ronnie handed out special awards to LK members to thank them individually for their contribution, loyalty and dedication. New members were given roses, existing members and alumni each received a certificate of recognition and seven plaques of recognition were handed to long-serving members: Mitzie Finney, Tom Finney, Bong Forouzan, Lito Maggay, Espie Josol and Zeny Tiglao.Four awardees who were not present: Gloria Bognot, Gina Ante Reid, Robert H. Simpson and Eugenio C. Ticzon will receive their awards by post.
Honorary certificates were given to Ambassador and Mrs. Cesar B. Bautista, Ambassador and Mrs. Edbardo B. Espiritu, Ambassador and Mrs. Jesus P. Tambunting, Filipino Women's Association, The Filipino Observer, Centre for Filipinos UK, Dr. Remedios Reyes, Dr. and Mrs. Rey Rivers, Shirley de los Reyes, Beth Cinamon - Westiminster City Council and the Philippine Dept. of Tourism UK.
In a surprise presentation, Jamie Oakes presented a special certificate of appreciation to Ronnie from LK members for his years of patience, perseverance and unfailing commitment for encouraging LK members to believe that they could be dancers ever striving for artistic excellence. For showing us how hard work brings out the best in us revealing talents that we did not know we had. For helping to create a caring environment full of laughter and love. For making us proud to be part of a family and for helping to promote Filipino culture in its wondrous diversity and encouraging all of us, either as performers or observers, to participate in an ever widening dialogue between cultures.
Guests were then invited into the Church hall for refreshments and winners of the prize draw were announced.
